Whakamātūtū is a programme for tāngata whai ora facing different types of mental distress, whose needs lie in the space between primary and specialist care.
Making mental health recovery possible. Together.
This programme is about tāngata whai ora learning their own strengths and skills for a continued recovery. It addresses key aspects of mental health – the emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual by working with psychotherapy, Rongoā Māori, somatic therapy, art, and music therapies.
The short-term, full-time format is designed for participants to fully focus on their recovery, and following the programme they have access to ongoing, peer-led support. We aim for a two-week intake process so that tāngata whai ora can start their Whakamātūtū journey as quickly as possible.
