Benefits of our programme

We have carefully designed our programme to support your recovery

Here are some key elements and benefits

Evidence-based therapies

Research shows that in depression treatment, the best results come from a combination of psychopharmacology (medications), psychotherapy (talking) and lifestyle improvements (exercise, healthy nutrition, good sleep, limited substances, and good relationships and social connections). We offer a wide range of therapeutic activities based on this science. Programmes like ours that have been running in Germany for many decades show strong results for their participants.

Choice of treatments

Choosing treatments that align to your values and lifestyle can lead to more successful outcomes.

Supportive recovery

It is hard to stick with treatment plans when you are depressed. Depression and other forms of mental distress place huge barriers in your path. We understand those barriers and will work with you to overcome them.

The lasting impacts of psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is more than simply lifting your mood short term. It is a process through which you can slowly build understanding, insights, hope, better relationships with those around you, enhance your problem-solving abilities and much more. These benefits can continue well beyond your time in the programme, giving you a better chance of coping with adversity in the future.

Day programmes work

Day programmes like ours can be as, if not more, successful than residential inpatient treatment – allowing people to live independently at home. Every day, you get to take what you learn in the programme back into your home life and then bring those experiences back to work on, in the programme. This interrelationship can enhance your progress. You also get to strengthen your home support network while you are recovering.

Ease of access

All our services are provided under the one roof. You can access them easily when you need them.

Integrated therapies

Combining different therapeutic activities, such as psychotherapy, art therapy, medical and psychiatric treatment, exercise, nutrition, support, and psychoeducation, can have a greater effect than single treatments alone. The gains of integrated treatments are more likely to continue beyond the programme.

The strength of ‘lived experience’ combined with clinical knowledge

The programme originated from the experience of people who have ‘been there’, who understand how difficult it is to live with mental distress and who have recovered. They combined forces with experienced mental health professionals to create the best of both worlds – a place that works to understand your needs and delivers evidence-based therapies.

The right pace for you

We have developed a three-stage programme. Within each stage, you have flexibility to work and progress at a pace that feels right for you.

A short but intensive approach

We imagine you want to get back to living a full life as quickly as possible. We understand that and so have built an intensive short-term programme. Six-week programmes like ours have proved to be successful overseas. Evidence shows that they can significantly affect your quality of life.

Personalised treatment

Recovery is individual, and each person responds differently to different treatments. We will tailor your therapy programme to suit your needs.

Comprehensive assessment

You will receive an assessment and appropriate treatment recommendations before starting the programme.

A team alongside you

Our therapists and clinicians work as a team to support your recovery. They share their knowledge and skills to best support you.

Overcoming shame and stigma

Mental illness can carry both shame and stigma. An effective way to address this is to be around others who understand what you’re going through and share common goals. Together you can support each other, lift the burden of shame, and get on with getting well.
